IMD predicts heavy rains in Telangana state for next 3 days

Many parts of the state experienced rain on Sunday night and on Monday.

Hyderabad: With the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall due to low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood associated upper air cyclonic circulation, heavy downpours are expected across various parts of the state for the next three days.

Many parts of the state experienced rain on Sunday night and on Monday. The Telangana districts of Nalgonda, Suryapet, Khammam, Bhadradri-Kot-hagudem, Jayashanker-Bhupalpally, Warangal and Mahbubabad received heavy rainfall on Sunday night. According to IMD predictions, districts including Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Khammam, Warangal, Jayashan-ker-Bhupalpally, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Peddapalli and Jagtial would receive heavy rains in next two days.

Inclement weather prevailed in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits since Sunday morning with intermittent light rain and showers which would continue on Monday and Tuesday also.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the official mach-inery to be vigilant in view of the heavy rain forecast in the next three to four days. The chief minister told Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi to issue instructions to ensure all officials were in their work place and coordinate with the departments to take necessary steps.

Mr Rao instructed the ministers to be available in their respective districts and monitor the situation and if necessary take up the required relief activities.
