Hyderabad: Civic body to give away 35 lakh saplings
Hyderabad: The GHMC will be giving away 35 lakh Homestead plants to citizens as part of Telangana Ku Haritha Haram Initiative. The GHMC was given the target to plant 40 lakh plants in the city. About 890 sites were selected as per action plan for five lakh plantings in open spaces, avenue plantation, institutions, lakes, graveyards etc.
Based on public survey, the plant species includes aromatic, herbal, flowering, ornamental, shade etc are being given away for free of cost. The details are available on the website http://greenhyderabad.cgg.gov.in
“Forty lakh seedlings are raised in 32 nurseries with in the GHMC Jurisdictions. Sixty varieties are raised and the this information has kept in Green Hyderabad website,” said the GHMC in a statement.
The GHMC called upon interested parties to contribute for raising and adaptation of plants of selected locations, stretches, institutional plantations and also providing tree guards for safeguarding avenue plantations.
