Ajitabh's family protests for CBI probe
BENGALURU: Disappoionted over slow progress in the investigation of missing Kumar Ajitabh, a Bengaluru-based techie, who remains untraceable even after 200 days, the family held a protest at Town Hall in Bengaluru on Sunday. For Ajitabh's father Ashok Kumar and sister Pragya it has been a nightmare, as they have been running from pillar to post to get information regarding the progress of the case. On Sunday Ajitabh's sister Pragya led a protest at Town Hall urging the state government to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Nearly 60 people attended the protest, which began at 11 am and lasted for over two hours. Pragya told Deccan Chronicle, "Police have been assuring us time and again, but now it has been seven months and no progress in the case. How long can we keep waiting? All we want now is a CBI probe." Meanwhile Ashok, who is currently in Bihar, said, “The main grounds for CBI probe in our petitions to the authorities are Inter-state jurisdiction of investigation rests only with CBI. Karnataka Police /CID have been completely clueless and have reached dead end in their investigations since January, 2018.”
He further said the investigating team has wasted precious six months (which could be vital for the survival of the missing victim). They have been submitting their ‘Efforts Reports’ to the Court, in place of the required ‘Progress Reports’. Hence, the state agencies have failed and the case has to be transferred to the CBI to save the life of victim. A case in connection with Ajitabh's disappearance is currently being heard at the Karnataka High Court, and the next hearing will be on July 31. Recently, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi had spoken to state police chief DG&IGP Neelamani Raju regarding the progress of the case.
