KCR claim on Pulichintala false: Uttam Kumar Reddy
Hyderabad: TPPC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday ridiculed attempts to link completion of the Pulichintala hydel power station with the “vision” of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He said the CM had failed to add even one unit of power in Telangana during his three-year rule. Mr Reddy said Pulinchintala power plant was conceived, approved and initiated by the previous Congress government. “The TRS government or the CM did nothing for the Pulichintala hydel project. It is located in my constituency and I have thorough knowledge of the project. It was conceived, approved and initiated by previous Congress government. KCR is now habituated to taking credit for almost everything done in the State and blaming the Congress for things that have not been done,” Mr Reddy said.
He pointed out that 4x30 MW Pulichintala plant got environmental clearances on June 9, 2005 and forest clearances on October 20, 2006. The final approval was given on April 25, 2007 and Letter of Award (first package) was given on August 1, 2007. Mr Reddy added that significant portion of the work was completed before the TRS came to power in June 2014. He also pointed out that the BHEL had commissioned the first unit of 30 MW in December 2016 and the second unit was now ready.
The other two units are scheduled for commissioning in August and October this year. “Commissioning of Pulichintala plant to full capacity has actually been delayed. The CM is giving an impression as if his government has completed the entire project in one year. He has excelled in the art of taking credit for other’s achievements. TRS government has failed to add a single unit of power during the last three years from the projects that it had conceived and initiated and instead of taking steps to initiate and complete them on time, KCR has lined up launch of projects that were originally started during Congress rule,” he said.
The TPCC chief advised the CM to start addressing the real problems being faced by the people instead of focussing on self-praise. “The CM is presently confined to his palatial bungalow Pragathi Bhavan. He is neither aware of what is happening in the state or in the Secretariat. His activity is limited to hour-long review meetings on some subject twice or thrice a week and issuing press releases. He only craves for positive coverage in the media even by making wrong or exaggerated claims. Someday he might even take credit for sunrise and sunset,” he said.
