Car driven by government school teacher kills 2 in Vanasthalipuram
Hyderabad: An overspeeding car driven by a government school teacher ran amok in Vanasthalipuram on Saturday evening, killing two persons and critically injuring another.
Thotla Bhagyamma who was at the wheel had no driving licence, though she knew how to drive a car for several years.
According to the police, Bhagyamma, 35, a resident of Injapur, works as a teacher at the Government High School in Kandukur, while her husband Hanumantaiah is an advocate. The couple owns a Maruti Zen Estilo (AP 29BC 3677), which is registered in her husband’s name.
On Saturday afternoon, she went to her relative’s place in BN Reddy Nagar and was driving back home. She was alone in the car.
When she reached the Injapur Kaman, she lost control of the vehicle while taking a turn. The car swerved and ran over three persons standing at the kerb.
The dead have been identified as Jangaiah and his wife Jangamma, both in their early 70s. Jangaiah died on the spot and Jangamma died while being shifted to the hospital.
The third person Anitha who sustained injuries has been shifted to a private hospital and her condition is said to be critical.
Investigation revealed that Bhagyalakshmi had no driving licence but she knew driving and had been driving for the past few years.
A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and driving without a licence was registered against her, while her husband was booked for allowing her to drive without a driving licence.
