Telangana BJP asks Centre to fix high court dispute

They also briefed the law minister about the judges' and advocates' strike, the suspension of 11 judges and related matters.

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP leaders and the party’s legal affairs cell functionaries met Union law and justice minister Ravi Shankar Prasad seeking his intervention to expedite the process of bifurcation of the high court and to issue suitable guidelines for exercise of option followed for allocation of judicial officers.

Labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya, Bar Council of India chairman A. Narsimha Reddy, Bar Council member and MLC N. Ramchander Rao and others explained to Mr Prasad the hardships being faced by all concerned due to the delay in bifurcation of the high court.

They also briefed the law minister about the judges’ and advocates’ strike, the suspension of 11 judges and related matters.

Mr Prasad, who was presented a detailed memorandum on the issues, promised to take the initiative at the earliest. The delegation said that, in terms of Section 80 of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, the guidelines relating to allocation of employees have to be framed exclusively either by the central government or by the advisory committee appointed for the said purpose as are enumerated in the said provision.

“The options exercised by the officers from AP were contrary to the nativity disclosed by them in the service records at the time of their entry into the service. Therefore, they should not have been considered for provisional allocation to Telangana,” they said.
