CHIKKAMAGALURU: Hamasavi, a woman Range Forest Officer (RFO) attached to Koppa sub-division of Chikkamagaluru has threatened that she would be forced to take an extreme step like DySP Ganapati in Madikeri, if she continued to face pressure regarding alleged misappropriation of funds in the forest department. She claimed the she was clean in discharging her duties and no embezzlement happened during her tenure.

At a meeting chaired by Taluk Panchayat president Uday on Friday, the TP president questioned Hamsavi to come out with details of bills cleared and plantation work taken up in the region. As soon the RFO was questioned, Hamasavi broke out at the meeting.

The RFO told in the meeting that any misappropriation of funds in the department might have occurred in the past and nothing illegal took place during her tenure. She said she was discharging her duties properly and threatened that if pressured, she would be forced to commit suicide.

After walking out of the meeting, Hamasavi is said to have told persons close to her that she would be seeking transfer from Koppa sub-division in a month’s time. Later, she met Sringeri MLA Jeevraj and explained her case. It is said that Hamasavi was posted at Koppa sub-division a year back.
