Don't blame us for no fault of ours: Private hospitals in Telangana

Doctors in particular are stating that the serious cases will be referred to government hospitals only, as these cases are causing problems

HYDERABAD: Private hospital authorities are upset for being targeted and say that this kind of witch hunt is not fair as members of their fraternity too have lost lives. Blaming them for improper treatment, excess billing and improper care were like targeting them, they said.

Many of them are openly asking why it is that only one set of hospital groups are being targeted while others are left out. Doctors in particular are stating that the serious cases will be referred to government hospitals only, as these cases are causing more problems. A senior doctor in Ranga Reddy district says, "I lost three patients who were recovering and suddenly collapsed. Two patients' families understood the situation but one complained to the government. Permission was denied but it made us think why we must take stress when people and the government are only blaming us."

Others say that the government must supply oxygen, medical devices, medicines and manpower to private hospitals to manage patients during the pandemic as that will absolve them from additional costs. It is these costs which are leading to rising hospital bills and if the government is providing it to both public and private sector the issue of high billing will not arise, they opined.

Experts state that there is a need to work out a proper solution rather than blame a section. Before the third wave they want these problems to be sorted out as patients will be at the receiving end and suffer the most.
