Tiruchy: The Tamil Nadu Government is making all efforts to increase the green cover in the state from 18.8 per cent to the needed average level of 33 per cent, according to State Forest minister Dindigul Srinivasan.
He told newsmen here on Saturday, on the sidelines of a review meeting with the forest officials and the officials of the Tamil Nadu Forest Plantation Corporation (TAFCORN) that the latter has earned revenue of Rs 100 crore.
He said in order to provide drinking water to wild animals in the forest areas and also to prevent the animals from entry into nearby residential areas in search of water, the Forest department was setting up solar power based motors inside the forest areas to pump out water into little ponds to provide water for the animals.
