Hyderabad: With Congress being reduced to six legislators and standing to lose the status of the main Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, the MIM has stepped up to stake claim for the slot. The MIM is friendly with the TRS but contested the elections separately. It has seven MLAs.
MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi while talking to mediapersons on Saturday said that the party would request the Speaker to give them Opposition status in the House as they had more legislators than the Congress in the House.
Stating that they will soon meet the Speaker with the request, the MIM chief said, “We expect that he will take positive action.”
MIM senior legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi may be the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly if it comes through. Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi is the MIM Legislature Party leader in the House.
