Mangaluru murder cracked in 24 hours
MANGALURU: Within 24 hours of the alleged murder of a woman, Mangaluru police have arrested the suspect accused from Sindagi Taluk of Vijayapura district.
Anjana Vasist (22) of Tarikere, who had come to Mangaluru, was fatally strangulated on Friday at a room in Attavar, taken on rent by her male friend Sandeep Rathod, hailing from Sindagi.
She had arrived in the city on Friday morning and contacted her parents on reaching the city. However, by evening she was found dead. On Saturday morning police arrested Sandeep from Sindagi.
According to the police, Sandeep had come to Mangaluru to appear for the banking and Police Sub-Inspector examinations. He was residing in the room since June 2.
Anjana too was with him, but left for her village a few days ago and returned on Friday.
Police said that a discussion about getting married had resulted in an argument between the two. Sandeep is said to have lost his cool, killed Anjana and fled. Police are continuing with their investigation.
