Vijayawada: A case has been registered against Kodela Shivaram, son of former AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao and his personal assistant Gutta Prasad and an engineer, Unnam Venugopal Rao. Police said they were allegedly threatening those applying for building permits and taking money from them.
One Town sub-inspector Brahmam informed that a case was registered following a complaint lodged by an alleged victim and was being investigated.
According to the police, all the three had asked K. Mallikarjuna Rao of Ravipadu Rs 17 lakh to permit him to construct an apartment.
Two years ago, Mr Mallikarjuna Rao met engineer Venugopal Rao and applied for permissions. He paid the fees and some bribe.
But Venugopal Rao did not give permission and warned Mallikarjuna Rao not to complete the work without paying Sivaram. He allegedly stopped the construction using the panchayat staff.
