H D Kumaraswamy to expand cabinet, at last
BENGALURU: It’s official.: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will expand his cabinet on June 12, making room for two independents to join his team, in a bid to steady his boat. The Chief Minister who took to Twitter to announce expansion of the cabinet at 1130 AM on Wednesday, giving away one post from the quota allocated to his party, while the Congress would accommodate the other independent legislator to fill the vacancy caused by the death of minister C S Shivalli. Among the independents, Mr K. N. Nagesh, is considered a close aide of water resources minister, D. K. Shivakumar, while R. Shankar, a fellow clansmen of Kuruba strong man and former chief minister, Siddaramaiah.
JD (S) leaders, however, have retained one berth in their quota for induction of a new face at a later date. Mr Kumaraswamy tweeted about expansion of the cabinet after meeting Governor Vajubhai Vala following weeks of consultations between Congress leaders and himself in the wake of a rout in recent Lok Sabha polls.
