Bengaluru: Students, show fee receipts to travel in bus

Students will now be allowed to travel free in KSRTC buses by producing previous year bus passes.

BENGALURU: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has directed all divisional controllers at the district level to distribute bus passes to school and college students. But as there has been a delay and since classes have already started, KSRTC had said that students can travel free using passes issued last year.

But after receiving many complaints that many new students were facing problems, the corporation has changed its order to say that students can also show college fee paid receipts to travel.

A senior KSRTC official told Deccan Chronicle, "Students joining high school or PU colleges or students who have changed their institutions are requesting for free travel facility as they don't have old bus passes. To help these students, KSRTC has extended free travel facility by asking such students to show fee paid receipts."

Students will now be allowed to travel free in KSRTC buses by producing previous year bus passes, fee paid receipts or identity cards issued by institutions for the present year.

Ms Rachana, a student, said, "It is a good move by KSRTC. But the corporation has to issue us passes soon."
