Kerala set to rollout Nissan a red carpet
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Global automobile major Nissan Motor Corporation will be given a red carpet welcome by the state government by offering various sops as the presence of Nissan would brighten the prospects of the state IT sector. Industry sources said that some more major companies were also seriously considering the state for expansions. With the Cabinet giving the go ahead for the Nissan Digital Campus project, the state government is in the process of finalising the sops that could be offered to Global. IT department sources said that the special terms for Nissan would be given final shape by next week.
Subsequently it would be forwarded to Nissan and hopefully a memorandum of understanding would be signed without much delay. Officials preferred to be tight-lipped on the nitty-gritty of the sops to be offered to the Japanese automobile major as a formal agreement with Nissan was still pending. Fast tracking of mandatory permissions, single window clearance and state of the art infrastructure are among the general commitments.
Nissan would be initially commencing its operations from Yamuna building in Technopark third-phase campus and would be simultaneously setting up own campus in about 30 acres to be allotted at Technocity at Pallipuram. Since Nissan already started hiring people, it would be commencing operations without much delay, said sources.
