TSSPDCL sleeps as rains blackout Telangana, AP

In most areas, the power went off at 3 am and was only restored at 11.45 am.

Hyderabad: Early in the monsoon season, residents of the twin cities are already facing frequent interruptions in the power supply. Heavy rains in the early hours of Thursday caused a blackout, which lasted for hours, in many areas including Madhura Nagar, Vengalarao Nagar, Krishna Nagar, parts of Srinagar Colony, Puppala Guda, and West Marredpally.

In most areas, the power went off at 3 am and was only restored at 11.45 am. In Puppala Guda, there was no power from 5 am to 9.30 am; and in Sanathnagar, the power went off at 2 am, but it was restored within 15 minutes. Officials of the Electricity Department said that the falling of trees on electricity lines had caused the interruption. During the summer, power cuts would be scheduled for the Department to trim trees and clear the areas around electricity lines; but those preparations seem to have been in vain.

In the twin cities, it has almost become a routine for the power to go off as soon it starts raining. The residents of Hayat Nagar say that the power has been going off at 12.30 am and coming back on at 3 am for the past four days.
