Vijayawada: Empty LPG tanker dashes into shops, leaves 2 injured

The driver of the tanker fled from the spot and efforts are on to trace him.

Vijayawada: Two persons were injured when the driver of an empty LPG tanker lost control over the vehicle and crashed into roadside shops at Narayanapuram of Dachepalli mandal in Guntur district on Wednesday.

According to police, G. Nagaratnamma and D. Sambaiah, both elderly persons who had come for their tea in one of the stalls, received injuries in the incident.

The police suspects that the driver of the tanker was drunk at the time.

He first ran over the traffic markers on the road and then drove straight into the shops in the early hours on Wednesday.

People sitting in the tea stall said that they saw the tanker hitting the traffic markers and moving towards.

They said that they moved out of the way and alerted others about the oncoming danger. However, Nagartnamma and Sambaiah, both elderly customers, failed to move in time and were injured in the accident.

The police shifted them to GGH, Guntur for better treatment after first aid at Dachepalli hospital. Dachepalli S-I S. Rajesh registered a case and began investigation.
