Nizamabad: Farmer dies in his wait to sell paddy
Nizamabad/khammam: In a tragic incident, a farmer died on paddy heap at Laxmapur village in Yellareddy mandal in Kamareddy. The deceased has been identified as Bodasi Gopal, 50, of neighbouring village of Kottala.
Gopal went to paddy purchasing centre in Laxmapur on Tuesday, but the organisers said that the weighing of produce will be conducted on Wednesday.
To keep watch on paddy, Gopal slept on paddy heaps, but was found dead on Wednesday. It is believed that the victim was died due to sunstroke. The deceased is survived by wife, son and two daughters.
In erstwhile united Khammam district too, the lifting of paddy from the farmers at the lifting centres has not been smooth this year because of issues like delay in payments and scarcity of bags have kept them waiting.
The delay in lifting led to the farmers facing trying times. Three farmers had sunstrokes while waiting at the centres. The agencies asked the farmers to keep the paddy for some days as the grains had excess moisture content. As a result, farmers were sleeping at the centres along with their paddy.
