Kadapa: Drinking water supply reviewed
Kadapa: Kadapa district collector C. Harikiran directed the field officers to take necessary steps to mitigate drinking water problem.
He held a video conference with all the mandal-level officers on Wednesday morning on drinking water and NREGS programme. The officers were told to take necessary steps to provide drinking water through tankers and asked them to go for more tankers if necessary.
He told the officials to repair borewells and pipelines.At present, the district administration is supplying water through tankers to 687 villages.
In view of the heatwave, he asked the officials to send tankers to 1,000 villages and directed them to take necessary steps.
He ordered the officials to set up water camps wherever possible and also identify donors to achieve the endeavour.
He directed the animal husbandry officers to provide adequate drinking water to the animals.
The NREGS officials were told to provide sufficient drinking water and butter milk to the labourers.
The officers were told to create awareness about sunstroke among the labourers and asked them to take steps to ensure that the labourers did not fall victims to sunstroke. He asked them to change the timings of the work so as to avoid falling victims to the scorching heat.
The collector ordered all the officials to be more cautious about the supply of drinking water and in case of any problem, he asked them to contact him.
ZP CEO Nagesh, DWMA PD Harihara-nath, RWS SE Sanjeeva Rao, DPO Mohan Rao and others were present.
The officials were told to be prompt in reacting to people’s grievances over drinking water.
