Hyderabad: The managing committee of Jamia Masjid-e-Noor, Hafiz Baba Nagar, is organising the weekend Taraweeh programme for those who work night shifts in multi-national companies and call centers on weekdays and consequently, miss the opportunity to offer the Taraweeh daily.

One of its organisers Syed Azhar Ali explained that the Taraweeh prayer usually begins at 8.30 pm after the Isha prayer and ends around 10 pm and many professionals and businessmen have not been able to attend the prayer owing to their hectic schedules. The idea of the weekend Taraweeh occurred to us six years ago. So when we approached the management committee for their permission, they very kind to grant us the same.

Mr Azhar went on to explain that many businessmen and professionals ended up reeling in guilt for not being able to reach the mosque on time for Ramzan’s special prayer. “Since there aren’t many mosques that conduct prayers late at night, we have resolved to conduct Taraweeh on weekends. We have been publicising this special arrangement on social media also.”
