Hyderabad: Ration cards to be cleared in 7 days

Operators must capture all the family members’ biometric data at the time of application itself in order to avoid bogus and ineligible applications.

Hyderabad: The civil supplies department on Wednesday instructed its officials to clear the pending applications for ration cards within seven days.

Civil supplies commissioner Akun Sabharwal said that the DCSOs and ACSOs had been instructed to utilise the services of the District Project Associates to clear the works related to the ePDS.

Since a huge number of applications in Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts were still not processed, Mr Sabharwal said a senior checking in-charge and a junior inquiry in-charge will be deputed to the task.

He added that necessary instructions had been issued to Mee-Seva and e-Seva centres for uploading ration card applications in the official format as adopted by the department.

“Operators must capture all the family members’ biometric data at the time of application itself in order to avoid bogus and ineligible applications. Further, as HMDA area has noted a larger number of pending applications, every ASCO must appoint a data entry operator to undertake the scanning and uploading of documents,” Mr Sabharwal said.
