Daughter failed exam because of Congress: Dr Umesh Jadhav

Jadhav: daughter depressed over bribe charge against me, failed in PU.

Kalaburagi: The BJP candidate for Kalaburagi Lok Sabha seat and former MLA from Chincholi Dr Umesh Jadhav, who is under severe attack from the Congress for quitting the party and joining BJP, on Wednesday squarely blamed Congress leaders for the failure of his daughter in the PU exams the results of which were announced a few days back.

Addressing the media at Chincholi, Dr Jadhav said his daughter was highly depressed by the allegation that he received Rs 50 crore kickback from the BJP for contesting in the Lok Sabha election.

"My family members including my daughter are very much annoyed with the allegation. This led to my daughter's failure in the exam. My daughter even went to the extent of trying to take her life. But we saved her", Dr Jadhav claimed.

Categorically refuting the allegation that he received Rs 50 crore as bribe, Dr Jadhav declared he was ready for an inquiry by any agency to prove the charge. "I had a blemish-free track record in my career in the Central government. More than 200 people were almost in tears when I left my government job to join politics. That is my record and nobody can point an accusing finger at me", Dr Jadhav retorted.

He took a dig at Congress leaders' making a beeline to the Chincholi taluk now to canvass for the Congress candidate in the by-election.

"During my previous two -terms, I had implored Congress ministers to visit my constituency; but none visited saying it was Naxal-infested. Now they are coming here to shed crocodile tears alleging the constituency is backward and cases of sale of female babies are still being reported. This reflects how much concern they have for development", the BJP leader said.

Accusing the Congress leaders of trying to divide the Banjara community in the district for the sake of votes, Dr Jadhav asked them to instead face the election directly.
