After plus-2 results for state board and CBSE were announced, students are heading to arts and science colleges. In one of the top colleges in the city, 17,000 admissions forms for B.Com and BBA have been submitted so far. When asked, an official at the college said the demand for the commerce course has increased this year. The cut off percentage for both courses exceed 90 % in most colleges.

The seats are equally distributed among matriculation and CBSE students. The colleges have decided the cut off marks only for the matriculation and the CBSE cut off is yet to be finalized, college source said. They also added that the demand this year is higher than in previous years and the choice preference of the courses chosen by students seems to be changing.

Harshita who just cleared her plus-2 exams says “as I did my marketing in school final, I feel that the scope for B.Com Marketing and Management is better than other courses. Even though I secured 92 per cent, I still feel that getting into top colleges in Chennai still looks very difficult as the competition is very high this year.”

Chennai is evolving with the students looking out for more creative options for undergraduate courses that helps you explore your creativity and talent. The youngsters in Chennai are experimenting with Arts course that lets you try your hand in painting, designing, photography, and media studies which helps you widen your horizon with reporting, photography and writing skills.
