Thiruvananthapuram: The pass percentage of private candidates appe-ared for higher secondary exams through the State Council for Open and Lifelong Education (SCOLE) increased by six points this year.
Of the 58,895 students, 25,610 qualified for higher studies, which is 43.48 per cent as against 37.51 last year. Among them, 140 secured A+ in all subjects.
In the technical stream, 1,420 candidates took the exam from 15 schools and 996 or 69.72 per cent of them became eligible for higher studies and 33 secured A+ in all subjects. Last year it was 76.77%.
In the art stream offered by the Kalam-andalam Art School, 78 candidates appeared and 73 qualified. The pass percentage is 93.59.
The old-syllabus candidate of 2010 to 2018 March who failed to attain D+ or above grades for all subjects and who had attended the first year higher secondary improvement examination in July the same year also registered for March 2019 exam as old syllabus candidates. Out of 1,974 in this category, 6924 qualified (53.13%).
In a first, +1 classes to begin with rest
In a first time in the academic history of the state, the higher secondary classes for the academic year 2019-20 will begin on June 3 along with re-opening of schools. Online submission of applications for Plus One admission throu-gh Single Window Sys-tem will commence on May 10. The applications can be submitted at http://hscap.kerala.gov.in
The trial allotment will be published on May 20. First allotment will be published on May 24. General Education Secretary A Shajahan told the decision on 20 percent marginal increase in the seats will be taken after reviewing if there was need for the same.
