NCPCR Panel notice to collector of Ranga Reddy district

The district collector has also been asked to launch an inquiry in the matter and send an action taken report to the commission.

Hyderabad: The National Commission for Protection of Child rights (NCPCR) has served a notice on the collector of Ranga Reddy district Raghunandan Rao for violating Section 13 of the Right To Education Act which prohibits schools from collecting capitation fee.

The notice seeks an investigation by the district collector into the reports of two schools in the district CGR and Manthan International School collecting captivation fee and conducting screening of children as part of the admission process. The district collector has also been asked to launch an inquiry in the matter and send an action taken report to the commission.

Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Vijay Gopal, an anti-corruption activist from the city who complained the matter to NCPCR, said, “I got to know about this school from one of my colleagues. After I heard that he was taking an off to attend an interview in the school for admission, I starting inquiring about the school and found out what they are doing.”

“I filed a complaint at the Madhapur police station vide FIR 804/2016, December 12, 2016. Since the investigation had gone nowhere, I approached the NCPCR as we don’t have anyone at the state level to protect children rights,” he explained.

Despite several attempts to contact the district collector for his response, he was not available to comment.
