In Holenarsipur, it's Revanna vs Revanna

But the people seem in two minds currently and admit that it is anybody's game in Holenarsipura these elections.

Hassan: It’s the battle of the Revannas, one from the Janata Dal (S) and the other from the Congress. While H D Revanna of the JD(S) is in a stronger position in Holenarsipura, as it is his party’s bastion, and he as sitting MLA has represented the constituency four times already, it is a much harder battle for Bagoor Manjegowda Revanna of the Congress.

But the latter may be in with a chance as despite his considerable clout over Holenarsipura, Mr H.D. Revanna’s popularity seems to be waning, with voters in Chigalli village openly attacking him in anger over his contribution to their welfare, during his ongoing campaign in the district.

Congress party campaign president of Holenarsipur and ex-councillor Mujahid Pasha claims that while the JD(S) MLA has built schools and colleges in the constituency, they lack adequate staff. Similarly, the government hospital is short of doctors and the Town Municipal Council (TMC) lacks staff, he says. The other allegation against the MLA is that some of the government schemes such as “Pashu Bhagya” haven’t reached beneficiaries in Holenarsipura, according to Mr Pasha.

However, former taluk panchayat president and JD(S) leader, Ananthkumar denies the allegations , calling them a deliberate attempt by the Congress party to mislead voters of the constituency.

He claims that Holenarsipur has seen overall development under MLA Revanna and there is no shortage of teaching staff in any of the schools and colleges. But the people seem in two minds currently and admit that it is anybody’s game in Holenarsipura these elections.
