Frustrated I-T employees name roads as KTR-IT-Park-Road'

Hyderabad: Frustrated I-T employees put up several banners at the unkempt KPHB-Hafeezpet, calling the road ‘KTR-IT-Park-Road’ with a caution: ‘Safety at your risk’.

Ten banners contributed by residents were put up along the road running parallel from KPHB to Hafeezpet railway station.

“This entire stretch is not only used by us, but also by a larger public coming from Miyapur, Lingampally and surrounding areas and most of them head out to the I-T corridor using this road. Residents have been chasing officials but with no concrete action.

“It is a known fact that Hyderabad has a rocking I-T profile which is generating significant revenue and therefore, it is imperative for officials to provide us basic amenities like roads, street lights and prevent mosquito menace,” said many residents.

Petrified by the onset of the monsoon any time soon, people have resorted to the action of putting up the banners and alerting commuters.

“There are hardly 20 days left and we never know when the monsoon will arrive. We are petrified of the monsoon because last year cars got stuck and people fell off bikes. We want officials to show some urgency. Our agenda is not to defame the minister, who has been doing well as I-T minister, but he is also municipal administration minister and we want to echo that this road has been neglected,” said Biareddy Narasimha Reddy, I-T employee and resident of the area.

Residents point out that the road beyond Hitech City railway station and beyond Hafeezpet flyover is being developed and well maintained.

Unfortunately, this road connecting the two places is not being developed.

There is lack of co-ordination among officials, since part of this stretch is at the border and divides two constituencies.

On one hand, with the open drains and no street lights, the commute is risky in the dark, and on the other hand, due to heavy construction activity the debris is dumped on the road blocking half of the road, causing further inconvenience.

Meanwhile, the work on the road towards the KPHB has started and the expected date of completion is September.
