Kozhikode: PT Usha draws NIT inspiration

Six students of premier institute paint her journey, dream.

Kozhikode: A life size image of P.T. Usha on the walls of her ‘USHA School of Athletics’ is a source of inspiration for youngsters stepping in with a lot of aspirations.

It’s a tribute by B-Arch students of the National Institute of Technology - Calicut (NIT-C) to the sprint queen for grooming young talents.

The students have made the campus beautiful with the painting as it heralds the grand opening of its synthetic track by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last week of May.

Also, the six students of the BArch second year batch have made a series of paintings on her journey, and the story ends on her ultimate dream.

“In this series, we have six pictures,” said Arathi Kanmani, who headed the team.

“It took three days for six of us to complete them, and the credit for the portrait of Usha as an athlete goes to Sherin Nazar. We are sure that it would be an inspiration for each and every athlete.”

They have been for a quite long donating their works to government schools and colleges, and the recent work they did was at a lower primary school in Tirur.

“We are looking forward to adding colours to a lot many places in Kozhikode in coming days for free,” said Ms Arathi.
