Mr Senkumar later told reporters that the Chief Minister wanted him to ensure good policing in coming days.

Thiruvananthapuram: State Police Chief T.P. Senkumar said that he was directed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to ensure good policing in the coming days.

Mr Senkumar, who was reinstated as the police chief on Saturday based on a court order, met the Chief Minister at his office on Monday afternoon. The meeting lasted for around 10 minutes.

Mr Senkumar later told reporters that the Chief Minister wanted him to ensure good policing in coming days. The police is bound to work according to the policies of the government in power.

The stand to be taken by Mr Senkumar in the contempt petition at the Supreme Court on Tue-sday would be crucial. Since the government already reposted him, he is unlikely to press the contempt petition forward. Moreover, chief secretary Nalini Netto had even filed an apology in the SC on Monday.

Meanwhile, Mr Loknath Behera, who took over as Vigilance director on Monday, said he never felt like a scapegoat as government officials were bound to serve were the government posted them.
