Hyderabad: The GHMC said on Sunday that it has reduced the number of garbage-vulnerable points by 67.56 per cent under the Swachh Hyderabad and 100-days action plan programmes.
Households, commercial establishments, road-side vendors and institutions throw garbage at these vulnerable points.
“We started clearing the vulnerable points three months ago, but garbage was still being thrown there,” an official said. The corporation began cracking down after minister K.T. Rama Rao drew up the 100-day plan.
“We have deputed a sanitary jawan to monitor the vulnerable points at night. We have decorated the vulnerable points with rangoli to create awareness among the public,” the official said. Swachh volunteers had been deployed to eliminate the open points,” they said.
