Heat-related deaths surge to 260 in Telangana
Hyderabad: As many as 260 people lost their lives due to the heat wave in Telangana since the onset of summer this year even as a few parts of the state, including the capital, have been receiving sporadic rains for last several days.
"No report (of deaths) yesterday and today; 260 till Saturday (May 7)," an official of the state disaster management department said on Monday.

The highest number of deaths was reported from Nalgonda district, 80 people died due to heat there.
Hyderabad and several parts of Telangana have been receiving sporadic rains for the last several days, which brought down the soaring temperatures considerably. Gusty winds, accompanying rain, uprooted trees at different places here in the last few days.
In its "squall/ hail warning for next two days for Telangana", the India Meteorological Department said thunderstorm, accompanied with squall or hail would "very likely" occur at isolated places in the districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nalgonda, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Hyderabad and Khammam today and tomorrow.
