Police issue notices to 30 persons for role' in SSC Hindi paper leak

Warangal: Following the leakage of the SSC Hindi question paper that triggered a war of words between the ruling party and the BJP, the Warangal police issued notices to around 30 persons, including journalists and admins of WhatsApp groups in Warangal, Karimnagar, Ranga Reddy as well as Hyderabad districts as of Sunday.

According to sources, the authorities want to question the administrators of WhatsApp groups and may likely arrest several members over the next few days for allegedly leaking and circulating the question paper.

On April 4, the event was tracked to the Government Boys School in Kamalapur mandal of Hanamkonda district. The ruling BRS administration and the police came under fire after the SSC Hindi question paper was leaked and widely disseminated in WhatsApp groups.

The paper was shared to 149 members across the state via WhatsApp groups, and the Warangal police began to identify the members who leaked the paper and widely circulated in WhatsApp groups.

According to one police official who spoke to Deccan Chronicle on the condition of anonymity, the police was suffering from a staff shortage and it was difficult to deploy additional personnel to provide security at the examination centres. All the centres under the Warangal commissionerate were assigned a police officer or a home guard, he said.

Hanamkonda DCC president Naini Rajendar Reddy criticised the BRS and BJP parties for allegedly diverting the issue of TSPSC paper leak, which had jeopardised the lives and future of 30 lakh unemployed youth.

Rao Padma, president of the Hanamkonda BJP unit, claimed that police authorities declared that it was not a leak and then claimed that such cases of copying occur quite commonly. She questioned why they had dragged BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar's name into this issue. Padma accused the police of failing to prevent paper leaks and providing inadequate security systems at examination centres.
