Kochi: The condition of Kerala Congress (M) chairman and former finance minister K.M. Mani, who is undergoing treatment for chest and lung-related illness in a private hospital here, was reported serious but stable on Monday. A medical bulletin issued by the hospital said that his haemodynamic status remained stable and that he was being taken care of by a team led by the chief pulmonologist. "Close medical supervision is being carried out to monitor the daily progress. He has been suffering from COPD for several years and had frequent hospitalisation for chest infection in the past. Visitors have been strictly restricted to prevent further infections and provide effective medical care," the medical bulletin said.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who was here on Monday, visited Mani at the hospital. Mani has kept off the election campaign due to his ill-health. His daughter and close relatives are camping at the hospital.
