CM silence suspicious: Ramesh Chennithala

Addressing reporters here on Monday, he alleged that the LDF government was not ready to specify the companies that subscribed the bond.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said has said that the chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan's silence on CDPQ, the Canadian funding agency that holds a substantial stake in the controversial SNC-Lavalin, buying a significant part of the KIIFB masala bond of Rs 2,150 crore is suspicious.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, he alleged that the LDF government was not ready to specify the companies that subscribed the bond. The official releases had not mentioned anything about CDPQ. Mr Chennithala wanted to know why it was trying to hide the facts and running away.

"Mr Vijayan had said that the masala bond offer offered low yield, which is not true. He should explain why the government was forced to offer high returns when the state's finances are in the doldrums," he wondered.

He accused the CM of showing his gratitude to SNC-Lavalin for the "help" he received from the Canadians.
