Thiruvananthapuram: Health minister K.K. Shylaja has made clear that additional advocate general K.K. Raveendranath will represent the state in the petition filed by 20-odd self-financing medical colleges in the High Court seeking to double the fees for students admitted to the colleges last academic year. The State government would implead in the case. The High Court is likely to consider the petition by the managements on Monday.
Managements demanded that the fees be increased to Rs 11 lakh from the present Rs 4.80 to Rs 5.6 lakh, fixed by the fee regulatory committee headed by Justice Rajendra Babu for various colleges based on their infrastructure. Parents of some of the students have already made it clear that they would implead in the case individually.
