Hyderabad students find Chemistry tougher in IIT-JEE

Math was moderately easy, but it was very lengthy and it took me two hours to finish the math paper, told 17-year-old G. Sunaina.

Hyderabad: Though IIT-JEE experts found the physics paper to the the toughest, the candidates from the city found chemistry tougher than physics. “Math was moderately easy, but it was very lengthy and it took me two hours to finish the math paper,” told 17-year-old G. Sunaina, who appeared for the exam on Sunday in Hyderabad.

Sunaina, a resident of Begumpet, further added, “By the time I finished math, I had only one hour left to finish the other two papers, but luckily I did not miss anything. Chemistry was the toughest, mainly organic chemistry, and overall the paper was average. All my friends also felt the same.”

18-year-old Rahul Varma said, “Physics was tough and we were a bit confused. Instead of the normal tricky questions, the math paper had more deep and lengthy questions. Organic chemistry is generally tough and we had more questions from organic chemistry in the chemistry paper.”

17-year-old Harshitaa Gokul, an IIT-JEE hopeful, told the newspaper, “The paper was good overall; I tried to give importance to all the three subjects equally. Chemistry was really good for me as I could attend nearly 20 questions, whereas math was not as good because it was time-consuming as the questions were really lengthy, but physics paper was fine.”

18-year-old Dinesh Kumar, another JEE aspirant said, “There were no changes in the pattern of paper-I as compared to previous years. The level of difficulty of the subjects for physics was medium, chemistry was easy and most of the questions were NCERT-based and mathematics was medium too.”
