Hyderabad: During its centennial celebrations later this month, Osmania University will be honouring alumni who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields.The university will felicitate its old students among who are the late former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, filmmaker Shyam Benegal, former Speaker Shivraj Patil, former Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy, cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, the late S.B. Chavan, former Karnataka chief minister Dharam Singh, sports stars Sania Mirza, Mithali Raj, P.V. Sindhu, and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayan.
OU Vice-Chancellor S Ramachandram said that a panel has been tasked with short-listing the names. “Our objective is to honour outstanding achievements in different fields. We have identified a few names and are hoping to prepare a list of 50 to 100 distinguished alumni for this honour,” he said.
A citation giving a brief description of the person and her/his achievements, a memento and a shawl will be presented to each one on the occasion. It will be handed over to the families of those who are being honoured posthumously.
