Standing crop damaged in Karimnagar
KARIMNAGAR: Various standing crops being raised in the vast 2,688 hectares were damaged due to untimely rains coupled with strong winds recorded across several parts of the district on April 5.
The damage was revealed in a report and estimations carried out by district agriculture authorities. Consequently, the agrarian community, which is already reeling under a severe financial crisis due to extensive to crop losses caused due to deficit rainfall, are displeased. They are now asking authorities to provide compensation. As many as 1,562 hectares of paddy and 1,131 hectares of mango crops have been destroyed following unseasonal rains — recorded across 41 villages of 10 mandals.
The farmers and various respresentative bodies are now urging the government and authorities to extend financial aid to help make up for losses in farming.
