Vijayawada: BJP men demand change of Andhra Pradesh DGP

The removal of this was done after the Smart Pulse Survey conducted by the AP Government in 2016 to profile voters based on their voting preferences.

Vijayawada: AP BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India seeking a change in the Director General of Police. BJP AP president Kanna Lakshminarayana alleged that AP DGP RP Thakur was biased towards the ruling Telugu Desam and hence sought the appointment of a new DGP for AP State for the smooth conduct of elections. Mr Lakshminarayana, MP GVL Narasimha Rao, MLC PVN Madav and other leaders submitted the complaint to the ECI and sought action.

Mr Lakshminarayana and Mr Narasimha Rao said that with the active connivance of people in high positions in the Andhra Pradesh government, confidential and secure data of the states’ voters and residents had been leaked to the ruling Telugu Desam (TD). “This largescale data theft not only put the people of AP at great risk but had given undue advantage to the ruling party which had gained illegitimate access to data like

Aadhar numbers and linked bank accounts, photographs of all voters from the master voter database of Election Commission, social mapping and political preferences of voters obtained through government-sponsored surveys etc,” the complaint said.

The leaders alleged that after acquiring the public data “unauthorizedly”, large-scale deletion of voters showing a preference for the Opposition parties in government surveys had been done as a “preordained conspiracy”.

They alleged that around 18 lakh votes were removed from the lists and subsequently almost the same number was added till January 2019 almost matching the 2014 number.

The removal of this was done after the Smart Pulse Survey conducted by the AP Government in 2016 to profile voters based on their voting preferences.
