LDF panel moots Anwar again for Ponnani seat
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the constituency committee recommending the name of P.V. Anwar yet again, the state leadership of the CPM is likely to field him in the Ponnnani Lok Sabha seat.
The constituency committee had discussed a number of names before recommending Mr Anwar. However, in view of the water theme park controversy a section within the party was skeptical about his candidature.
The LDF hopes to make inroads into the Congress strongholds through Mr Anwar. Under the present circumstances, the Nilambur MLA is the best candidate to ensure a fight in Ponnani constituency, it feels.
Considering all these factors the local leadership has once again urged the state leaders to field him.
Earlier the party had considered Tanur MLA V. Abdu, Niyas Pulikkalakath, P.T. Kunju Muhammed and minister K.T. Jaleel to be fielded in the constituency which is considered a UDF bastion.
