Kerala: Hi-tech cameras to nab illegal waste dumpers
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With illegal waste dumping rampant, the city corporation has procured 15 hi-tech portable surveillance cameras which will be used to nab illegal waste dumpers. The ultra-modern hi-tech cameras, which were procured under the People’s Plan project, is durable and will function without power supply.
According to the authorities, the camera has the ability to take videos and still photographs and has energy saving sensors. “The battery-operated cameras will function non-stop for a period of three months. The main highlight is that we will be able to use it at problem areas were dumping is more as it’s not fixed permanently anywhere,” said the official. Each camera unit costs around Rs 1.4 lakh
Mayor V.K. Prasanth on Friday distributed the cameras to 15 health circles for the time being, later it would be circulated to other health circles as well. The camera with night vision will be able to take high-resolution pictures and it’s fully automatic.
