Vijayawada: Former Telugu Desam MLA and Krishna district Vijaya Dairy director Dasari Balavardhan Rao has joined the YSRC in the presence of party president, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
A prominent businessman, Mr Manne Madhusudhan Rao, has also joined YSR Congress. Mr Balavardhan Rao met the YSRC president who welcomed him into the party. Rajya Sabha member and senior YSRC leader V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, and Balavardhan Rao’s brother Dasari Jai Ramesh were also present on the occasion.
Talking to reporters after joining the YSRC, Mr Balavardhan Rao said that Gannavaram constituency was among the worst of those affected by Telugu Desam’s misrule. He asserted that the situation at the grassroot level will improve only if the YSRC came into power.
Mr Balavardhan Rao predicted a massive win for the YSRC in the upcoming elections. He stated that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy would restore Rajanna Rajyam, covering all the sections of society. He said he had not sought any assurances from the YSRC and that he would work towards the success of the party under the leadership of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Mr Madhusudhan Rao, who also joined the YSRC, a Dalit, is chairman and managing director of the MMR Group. He actively conducts service programs through the MMR Foundation.
Mr Madhusudan Rao said told mediapersons, “My goal is to bring Jagan into power, and not solely for the Dalits but because the development of all the sections of society is possible with Jagan Mohan Reddy in power. I am ready to carry out any responsibilities assigned to me by the party. So far, I have worked for the welfare of the Dalits through NGOs. Now, I shall work towards the development of the Dalits and other backward classes on a wider platform. Jagan Mohan Reddy has always been supportive of the weaker sections of society, which has made me join the party”.
