Congress campaigns against deletion of voters from list

The Congress party is conducting a door-to-door campaign against this decision.

Hyderabad: A unit of the Congress party is continuing its door-to-door campaign against the deletion of names from the list of voters by the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB). On Thursday, party functionaries visited Babayya Baavi in Kakaguda and spoke to locals. Nearly 100 families live in the Babayya Baavi area. Locals expressed shock and dismay at being called encroachers and at the SCB’s efforts to deprive them of their voting rights.

Nearly 30,000 voters who live in the eight wards under the jurisdiction of the SCB may soon lose their right to vote in the elections of the Board, as they have been identified as encroachers of government-owned lands. The Congress party is conducting a door-to-door campaign against this decision. Party leaders visited te Sai Baba huts, 108 Bazaar and Adarsh Nagar over the past few days.
