Both Houses of Parliament adjourned amidst protests
Hyderabad: Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. The TD, YSRCP, TRS and other members stalled the proceedings of Parliament with their demands. The MPs trooped into the well of the House holding placards and raised slogans. While TD and YSRCP MPs demanded ‘special status’ to AP, TRS MPs voiced for reservation. Members of the TD, YSRCP, TRS and others raised slogans in the Lok Sabha too while the Congress members protested over the fraud in Punjab National Bank.
While Opposition members were staging protests, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar requested Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to continue with the Question Hour. But as the protests continued, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.
Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju of the TD did not attend the House. It may be recalled that AP CM and TD national president N. Chandrababu Naidu had directed TD Ministers Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y.S. Chowdary to resign from the Union Cabinet due to disappointment over the Centre for not granting ‘special status’ to AP and for not implementing the assurances given in the AP Reorganisation Act. Meanwhile in the Rajya Sabha also, TD, TRS and YSRCP members stalled the proceedings of the House with their demands.
