Unable to repay bank loan, TN farmer commits suicide
A case has been registered against the Branch Manager of the bank at Manur village.
Tirunelveli: A 75-year-old farmer committed suicide today after he was allegedly forced by authorities of a nationalised bank, to repay his agriculture loan, police said.
A case has been registered against the Branch Manager of the bank at Manur village on charges of abetment of suicide, they said.
S Vembu Krishnan from Kilapillaiyarkulam near here, ended his life by consuming poison at his son's house here as he was upset over not being able to repay the agricultural loan he had obtained, police said.
In a suicide note, it was alleged that the bank official had insisted on repayment of the loan.
