Impersonator caught in SSLC exam hall in Chennai
Chennai: On the first day of the SSLC examinations in the state, the Chennai police arrested a second year polytechnic student for alleged impersonation at an examination hall in Tambaram.
Police said K.Sathish was arrested on Wednesday for impersonating his cousin M.Raja and writing the Tamil examination at a centre in a private school in West Tambaram. Both hailed from Kuvathur, Kancheepuram. Raja (24) was attending private tuition to clear the SSLC examination.
It all started with invigilator zeroing in on Sathish who was in possession of Raja's hall ticket. As the photograph on the hall ticket was not matching with the person sitting to write the exam, the invigilator questioned him.
"I am Raja only," he claimed but the invigilator decided to inform the special squad, which arrived at the school in 10 minutes.
When the squad members checked the 'student' they found the identity card of a second a year polytechnic student. And the photograph in the ID card matched with the 'student' writing the exam. When questioned, Sathish confessed he was not Raja. "Raja is my cousin and I wanted to help him. So I decided to write the exam for him," he said.
Education department officials were informed about the incident. District education officer who rushed to the spot after consulting with his seniors decided to hand over Sathish to the police. Tambaram police arrested him under section of cheating and impersonation. They are on the lookout for Raja.
