The group was frolicking beyond the shoreline when the strong current pulled them into the sea.
Chennai: A 15-year-old class X student from Arakkonam was washed into the sea by strong currents, off Marina beach, on Tuesday evening.
Police said the teenager Ajith along with five other friends took a train to the city from Arakkonam, after bunking school on Tuesday.
The group was frolicking beyond the shoreline when the strong current pulled them into the sea. Except for Ajith all others made it to the shore. Ajith is believed to have drowned. Anna square police has registered a case and are investigating.
