New Covid cases in Telangana drop to below 1,000
Hyderabad: Telangana continued its downward trajectory of new cases as they dropped to below 1,000 at 865 on Wednesday.
This comes a day after the director of public health Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao declared the end of the third wave.
According to the official bulletin on Covid status, one death and 2,484 recoveries were reported on the day. The number of active cases currently stands at 19,850. The number of tests conducted was less from the previous day’s 69,892 to 61,573.
Among the districts, GHMC showed a slight drop from 274 to 263. Fresh cases in Medchal Malkajgiri fell from 78 to 67 and in Rangareddy from 78 to 60. While a few districts are close to or have already achieved 100% vaccination with two doses, the overall coverage in the state is 89%, while it is 83% in Hyderabad.
Coverage of teens with two doses in the 15-17 years age-group has also picked up pace, with 21% of them fully vaccinated. About 16% teens have received two doses in Hyderabad.
A total of 612 regular beds, 872 oxygen beds and 598 ICU beds are currently occupied by Covid patients.
