Thiruvananthapuram: New software not practical'
Thiruvananthapuram: Posting higher secondary teachers for practical examinations goes haywire following the change of the software from HSE manager to iexam.
Till last year, HSE manager software was in use for scheduling duties of teachers in 15 subjects including practical exams. However, from this year, as part of bringing uniformity, the iexam is in use for high school classes.
The software could not generate the list when meeting to decide on practical duty was held in various districts. In each, 150 to 500 teachers have to be on duty.
When at last the list reached district chiefs of each subject after a long wait, it was full of mistakes. Only 20 per cent of the teachers were on the list, they said on condition of anonymity.
One of the precedences followed was that teachers in nearby schools would not get posted for practical duty. In many cases, teachers of nearby schools were on duty due to mistakes on the list.
Though steps were taken to rectify faults during the subsequent dates, many teachers are yet to receive their duties even now.
The directorate of higher secondary has very little time to correct the anomaly as the practical exams are scheduled to start on February 14.
Aided Higher Secondary Teachers Association general secretary S. Manoj alleged that the move to implement the uniformity in the software in haste as part of an agenda of merging higher secondary with DPI was the reason for the present issues.
