Nod for 20 per cent interim relief for government employees

Vijayawada: In what is good news for government employees, the state Cabinet that met on Friday decided on payment of Interim Relief (IR) to them. The Cabinet decided to give 20 per cent IR in June and implementation from July last year onwards.

The government had also decided to release Rs 250 crore to be paid to small depositors of Agri Gold which was approved by the High Court. The Cabinet on Friday ratified this decision. The amount will most likely be paid to depositors in April.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal to develop Eluru as a Smart City, to set up JNTU, Amaravati, apart from approving payment of salaries to employees of Vijayawada Municipal corporation and Greater Visakhapatnam municipal corporation under the 010 account.

Other Cabinet decisions included upgradation of 31 primary health centres and hospitals at a cost of Rs 255.96 crore, development of Srisailam under a master plan, distribution of 76.4 acres at Sunnipenta as house sites and setting up Vizianagaram Government Medical College
